JAMES ROCCO
AND THE NIGHT STOOD STILL
by Diane Warren

A Powerhouse of Talent. CBS News
A youngster named Jamie Alexander made his recording debut, singing a few lines on Frank Sinatra's Watertown album, produced by Bob Gaudio of The Four Seasons. Shortly after, he headed to Los Angeles to make a series of masters at the legendary Gold Star Studios, home of The Righteous Brothers, The Ronettes, and Darlene Love. This started a musical career that took Jamie Alexander, now James A. Rocco, from small clubs to Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Théâtre Du Châtelet, on tours with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and as a solo artist. His album It's Between Us included the surprise hit single, And The Night Stood Still, which climbed to number 21 on the FMQB AC chart and received radio play at independent and college stations around the country. In between singing gigs, Rocco starred on Broadway in CATS all over the USA as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Lyrics

And The Night Stood Still
(Diane Warren)

Do you remember
Oh the night that we first met?
The moment I looked in your eyes
I never will forget.

Do you remember
Oh the time that we first kissed?
Remember thinking to myself
Could it really be like this?

And we danced beneath a midnight moon
I took one look, one look at you.
And I fell in love before I knew it.
And the night stood still.

I could freely move cool and slow.
To the rhythm of the radio.
And I reached out for you.
Held you close.
And the night stood still

I still remember
How our song was playing then.
And if I close my eyes I swear
That we’re right there again.

Do you remember
Oh the way it used to be
When we were two hearts on the run
So young, so wild and free.

And we danced beneath a midnight moon
I took one look, one look at you.
And I fell in love before I knew it.
And the night stood still.

I could freely move cool and slow
To the rhythm of the radio.
And I reached out for you.
Held you close.
And the night stood still

Oh the night stood still
And we danced,
danced
We fell in love.

And we danced beneath a midnight moon
I took one look, one look at you.
And I fell in love before I knew it.
And the night stood still.

I could freely move cool and slow.
To the rhythm of the radio.
And I reached out for you.
Held you close.
And the night stood still

(repeat chorus)
